Xolo has added the Xolo Q700 to its quad-core Smartphone series. The company is offering the phone at an affordable range without compromising on the design and build quality. The 4.5-inch qHD display of the handset attracts the users to buy this phone. Other than this, the handset is 10.2mm thick and 151.3 grams in weight.
How it works
The Xolo Q700 operates on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Operating system. Hence, the user can enjoy many features like the lock screen widgets, Daydream, Quick Settings and much more which are not accessible on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Powered by the Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor, the handset is backed up by a 1GB RAM which ensures that the handset functions smoothly.
The handset offers five customizable home screens to fill with applications and widgets. Users can also download the applications that they like from the Google Play store. Some of the apps are bundled with the phone by Xolo like the Xolo Care, Xolo Power, Xolo Secure and Xolo Switch. Other than this, the device supports Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Voice memo and Predictive text input. The The Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Magnetometer and Accelerometer enhance the speed of Q700.
For the purpose of connectivity, the handset is enabled with GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi hotspot so that the user can browse the internet and download games and applications. It is also supported by Bluetooth and USB for sharing data. For user's convenience, the handset comes with GPS supporting A-GPS. It helps the user keep a check on directions.
In terms of memory, the Q700 is enabled with an internal memory of 4GB and the external memory is expandable up to 32GB which eases storing data for the users.
The Xolo X700 sports a 4.5-inch qHD OGS IPS display which is capable of showing 540 x960 pixels resolution and 16M colors. The screen used in this handset is reflective and the sun visibility is average. With a rectangular frame featuring rounded corners, this Smartphone is an attraction for all those looking for a huge phone with better interactivity features. The body of this device is made of plastic and the back has a rubberized finish which makes it easy to hold. The phone weighs 151.3 grams with 135.8 x 67.5 x 10.2 mm as dimensions.
On the right side of the panel, the volume rocker is placed while on the left side, there is the power/ standby button. The USB port and the 3.5mm jack is placed on the top. Coming to the front panel of the phone, it has three capacitive buttons for Menu, Home and Back. However, these buttons are not backlit, which makes them difficult to use in the dark.
The X700 sports a 5 Megapixels primary camera with additional features like BSI CMOS Sensor, Auto Focus, Image Stabilization, Scene Detection and Tuning, High Dynamic Range (HDR), Low Light Enhancement, Face Recognition (for Focussing as well as in Gallery) and Panorama Capture Geo Tagging. The camera displays pictures at a resolution of 2592х1944 pixels. Giving competition to other handsets, this handset also features a 0.3 Megapixels secondary camera. The camera allows the user to adjust the settings such as white balance, exposure, and saturation. Although, the handset is said to support low- lightening images, but practically, the images turn out to be unusually dark and extremely grainy.
Coming to the video recording capabilities, the handset can record 720p videos. The clips recorded are saved in the 3GP format.
Music Player and Video Player
The Q700 comes bundled with a music player that offers presets along with Bass and Reverb controls. The audio quality is pretty decent with AAC, AAC, WAV, MP3, MIDI, 3GPP, AMR-NB supporting formats.
Moving on to the video playback, the phone does not play many formats. It plays formats like MPEG4, H263, H.264 and HD. However, the user can grab a third-party application such as MxPlayer to overcome with this problem.
The Xolo X700 is equipped with Li-Ion 2400 mAh battery for the Indian market. This battery offers a talk time of up to 17 hours for 2G and 16 hours for 3g network. A standby time of up to 380 hours is expected from this power packed battery of Q700.
The Xolo Power app helps the user manage the battery of this device. The app gives a predictable battery backup that the user will get based on the applications that are currently running on the phone. It also suggests the battery that can be saved by cutting one or more apps or connectivity options. 'Low battery mode' comes with this application which will disable the Wi-Fi, data GPS, Bluetooth and reduce screen brightness to conserve battery, when the battery is about to drain off. Users just have to enable the 'Low battery mode' to enjoy this facility.
